Nordic Walking at Clara Vale – 26th May 2019

The Clara Vale Group

Clara Vale is a small village close to Crawcrook.  It used to be a pit village but the coal mine was demolished long ago. However, the community is still thriving. This is the second Nordic Walking training session that we have taught here, at Clara Vale Village Hall.

One member of the group, Ann, had attended the first training session and enjoyed it so much that she decided to do it again. We also welcomed Christine, who had previously attended a training session at Wallington and Rachel, who had organised the sessions at Clara Vale. As with the previous session here, once introductions had been done, we went out to the play area next to the village hall. Here we could explain about Nordic Walking and get everyone used to the poles.

The training went well but we always find that people really learn when out trying Nordic Walking for real. So, we went out for a walk through the golf course and along the River Tyne. As usual, the walkers noticed a difference. The walk was longer than last time, as the group were feeling fit.

On the way back we took an alternative path, as Rachel is familiar with the area.

This was a lovely group and we will be looking at doing something similar for Clara Vale Activity Day on Saturday 13th July.  Thank you for coming along and hope to see you again.
