Description
Tanfield Railway
This walk takes in the scenery around Tanfield Railway and the surrounding area. We walk up to the main Tanfield Railway site and then back down Bobgins burn and towards Causey Arch. This is the oldest single arch railway bridge in the world. There will be time to take a close look at the arch and the lovely little railway station with its grass platform.
We will then take the path through the woods to East Tanfield Station and the tea room. The next section takes us towards Beamish and along Beamish Burn towards the woods before turning back towards Causey Arch and the end of the walk.
We will be visiting multiple tea rooms on this walk. We start next to the Causey House Tea Room, so come early if you fancy a cuppa before the walk. At the half-way point we will stop at the lovely Tommy Armstrong tea room in East Tanfield Station.
