Description
Plessey Woods
Plessey Woods is a country park to the southwest of Bedlington. It is part of the wooded valley of the River Blyth and is very different from the industrial areas surrounding it.

The start
The paths from the car park are open grassy areas. This quickly changes as we head down the path to the river.
On the route there are many artworks made out of wood.
River walk
The walk along the river is gorgeous. Enchanting paths and little bridges give way to more wild paths as we walk upriver away from the start. We go under a viaduct that carries the mainline from Newcastle to Morpeth and then on even further until we reach the A1.
Back to the start
Part of the route back requires us to retrace our steps but we take a diversion on the way back that takes up up the side of the valley and to the top of the woods and back to the start.
When we get back to the start we will take a look in the Visitors Centre, where there is a small cafe. We can enjoy cake, tea/coffee and a chat before heading home.
Hope you can join me.
