Have you heard about Nordic Walking or seen people walking with poles? Do you like walking with a group of friendly like minded people?  Then why not learn to Nordic Walk on the Beach. If you want to read more about Nordic Walking then take a look our article “Why try Nordic Walking?“.

Learn to Nordic Walk session

The format for the session will be:

  • Completion of Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ);
  • Provision of a set of poles (properly set up according to your height);
  • A short introduction about Nordic walking, its benefits and its origin;
  • Instruction on steps 1-5 of the INWA 10 Step Method ™;
  • A 2-3 mile walk on the beautiful Cresswell Beach;
  • A cool down/stretching session.

Beginners to Nordic Walking often have questions about it, so we have tried to answer some of the typical questions that people ask.  You can find these in the FAQ section, so why not take a look.

Please contact us if you have any other queries or questions.

Cresswell Beach

Cresswell Beach is part of the longest stretch of sand in Northumberland, Druridge Bay.  It is also one of the best and our favourite.

The Start

The start time is determined by the tide times and to enable us to have a large expanse of sand we will start the session at 10.30 am.

We will meet in the car park situated across the road from The Drift Cafe.  Once you have completed the PARQ and been provided with a set of poles we will make our way to the sand.  You may wish to go barefoot on the beach..

Once on the beach you will be taken through the first 5 steps of the INWA 10 step technique.

The walk

After the lesson we have found that the best way to get the most out of your session is to practice what you have learned by Nordic Walking, we will walk around 2-3 miles.  The sand helps us to  highlight anything we may need to work on.

The Drift Cafe

As is tradition, we end with a trip to a cafe.  One of our favourites is The Drift Cafe.  It has great homemade food, especially the scones and cakes.

Hope to see you there.
