Description
Humbleton Hill
Humbleton Hill is right next to Wooler and is only a short walk away from Wooler Common. On a clear day you get spectacular panoramic views of North Northumberland from the top. You can see Wooler Town from above, the coast around Bamburgh and into the Scottish Borders.

The start
We will start in Wooler Common Car Park for our walk. There’s no getting away from the fact that Humbleton Hill is a hill and we start with a hill. This short but steep climb gets us onto the Common proper, just under Brown’s Law.
The approach
From Wooler Common we will follow St Cuthbert’s Way to a farm track heading downhill. At the bottom of this path we go through a gate and along the base of Humbleton Hill, gradually climbing up around the hill itself.
The top – Humbleton Hill
On the West side of the hill we will climb steeply up to the top and then take some time to enjoy the views.
Returning to Wooler
We will return to Wooler via St Cuthbert’s Way. This crosses Wooler Common and then descends into the town.
This is a short but very rewarding walk into the Cheviots and a good introduction to the beauty and isolation of this area.
Hope to see you there.
