Description
Hauxley Nature Reserve
This flat 4 mile walk around Hauxley Nature Reserve, takes us around the nature reserve itself and also onto the beach to see the fantastic views across the length of Druridge Bay.
We will pass the various hides in the reserve and maybe visit one. Regardless of the time of year, there is always plenty of flora and fauna to see here.
The short section on the beach gives us the best Nordic walking experience, as well as the incredible views afforded by the huge Druridge bay.
After the walk we will visit the Lookout Café.
Interesting information
Hauxley Nature Reserve was originally part of Radcliffe open-cast mine but was purchased by Northumberland Wildlife Trust in 1983 and transformed into a haven for wildlife. It is one of the best wildlife-watching spots in the North East, renowned for its bird life.
