Getting back to Nordic Walking beach walk
Are you keen to get back to your Nordic Walking? Have you missed walking with other people? Do you need to, maybe, get your confidence back? Would you like a reminder of technique? Then this is definitely the walk for you.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic, we are very aware that a lot of people have not been out walking far or, indeed, at all. To help to start to get us out again and, of course, following the government’s Covid-19 social distancing guidelines, the beach is perfect.
Cresswell beach is the longest stretch of beach in Northumberland and therefore makes the perfect place to start our walking off again. It is also one of the best and our favourite.

Start time
The start time is determined by the tide times and to enable us to have a large expanse of sand we will start the walk at 12 noon.
The start
We will meet in the car park across the road from The Drift Cafe. This is also the start point of the walk. You may wish to go barefoot on the beach, as there are often a few areas which you may need to plodge through.
We will make our way down to the beach, where we will split the group and take a short teaching session for a reminder of the INWA 10 step technique.
The walk
Julie will take those who don’t want to walk far (up to 3 miles).
Martin will lead those walkers who would like to walk a bit further (around 5-6 miles).
The Drift Cafe
As is tradition, we end with a trip to a cafe. This one is one of our favourites, The Drift Cafe. We are unable to sit in the cafe or on the outdoor seating area but it is serving takeaway food and drinks at the moment. It has great homemade food, especially the scones and cakes.
Hope to see you there.
