Description
Kielder Water Hawkhope Circular
The Kielder Water Hawkhope Circular walk takes in a small, but beautiful part of the Kielder Water area. Kielder Water is the largest man-made lake in Northern Europe. The trail around it is approximately 25 miles. This walk takes in a little part of that trail, to the eastern end of the lake.

The start
We start at Hawkhope Car Park. This is at the east end of the lake, across the dam wall. From here we will take a track that passes what used to be Falstone Coal Mine. This track continues round an inlet and on towards Plashetts Incline, which used to take the coal trucks down to the Border County Railway in the valley.
The Lakeside Way
When we reach the edge of the lake, we begin the return journey following the lakeside path. This gives us incredible views across the lake.
Kielder art
Another attraction of Kielder are the numerous art installations. We will encounter some of them on the way back (storm damage allowing).
Hope to see you there,
Julie and Martin x
