Description
Harbottle Wood
Harbottle Wood is somewhere that we have not explored before. This walk is very varied, for a short walk. In four miles we see fully grown coniferous woodland, harvested areas, fields, forest tracks, and more.
We park at Holystone car park and then walk up the road to a forest track. This takes us deep into the wood and provides a great surface for Nordic Walking. This track eventually heads out to Harbottle, but we take a narrow path directly through the wood, which comes out into a harvested area. The path then enters the edge of the wood, which has more native trees than in the main wood. We eventually find ourselves exiting the wood into a field past some houses and back towards the car park.
It’s a lovely walk and feels longer than it is, but in a good way. We might even have time for a quick visit to Lady’s Well.
After the walk we are likely to visit our traditional tea room for this area, Tomlinsons in Rothbury.
We look forward to you joining us for this walk.
