Breamish Valley Hillforts
Breamish Valley Hillforts is a short walk from Ingram, in the Breamish Valley, up into the hills close by. These hills feel quite exposed once up there but they were once home to people. There are many Iron Age settlements or hillforts located on these hills. We will visit several of them.

Start
We start at Ingram and then walk on the road alongside the River Breamish until we reach a track that climbs up to Barrow Law. This is the location of the first hillfort. It also gives us great views over the Breamish Valley.
Little Cleugh
From Barrow Law we follow a path towards Cochrane Pike. On the way we pass another settlement at Little Cleugh. This one is not as prominent as many of the others, as it is situated in the cleugh.
Cochrane Pike
Cochrane Pike is the highest point on the walk and provides panoramic views of the area. There is also a settlement on the south side of this hill. You can also see our next destination, Wether Hill.
Wether Hill
Wether Hill is the location of the largest settlement on this walk. Remains of the outer wall and dwellings inside are visible.
From here we head roughly North, across Middle Dean, and back to Ingram. Once back at Ingram, we will visit the Ingram Cafe for tea and cake.
