Have you ever thought about learning to Nordic Walk, watched the Robson Green Weekend Adventures and wondered what all the fuss is about?  Then this is the session for you.  Why not learn to Nordic Walk with the leading Nordic Walking Company in the North East?

We have once again teamed up with the National Trust property of Wallington to provide Nordic Walking beginners sessions in the beautiful grounds of this wonderful historic property.  All of the facilities of Wallington are available here, so it is an ideal place to try Nordic Walking.

Nordic Walking is a great low impact all over body workout.  However don’t be scared there are no squats, lunges or weights involved.

Training is provided by Julie and Martin. Julie is the owner of Strolls With Poles and has been a Nordic Walking Instructor since 2012.  She has a lot of experience in teaching Nordic Walking.  Martin has been an instructor since 2019 and is on hand to offer any help.

The session is always relaxed and fun with lots of laughs.

The format for the session will be:

  • Provided with a set of poles (properly set up according to your height);
  • A short introduction about Nordic walking, its benefits and it’s origin;
  • Instruction for beginners using the INWA 10 Step Method ™;
  • A 2-3 mile walk in the grounds of Wallington Hall;
  • A cool down/stretching session and
  • Access to Wallington for the rest of your visit.

Beginners to Nordic Walking often have questions about it, so we have tried to answer some of the typical questions that people ask.  You can find these in the “Questions” tab above, so why not take a look.

Please contact us if you have any other queries or questions.

Questions

What is Nordic walking?

We wrote a blog entitled “What is Nordic walking?” to explain what Nordic Walking is and the benefits to you.

Why are we walking on the grass?

Grass is an excellent surface to learn the INWA 10 Step Method™ for a few reasons:

  1. The surface is usually flat with no obstacles, which means your posture remains correct without worrying about tripping over;
  2. When placing your pole behind you it is much easier to get good purchase to push through the strap to assist your technique; and
  3. You will have beautiful scenery.

What do I need to bring?

On our website we have a FAQ (Frequently asked questions) section that will provide you with more information.

We will also send you an email at least 2 days before your session with extra information, but please feel free to contact us.
