The start – Boatside Inn, Warden
We start at Bridge End, and cross Warden Bridge. The car park is shared with the inn and the Citrus Cafe.
From here we take a path towards Hexham, following the River. We soon reach Waters Meet, which is where the North Tyne and South Tyne merge into one river.
The track leads to Tyne Green Forest Park, but we cross the railway line and join another path.
High Wood
After crossing the railway line, we follow a track up towards High Wood.
The views are stunning all the way around this walk.
Onto Low Gate
Once we reach the top of the track, we turn west towards Low Gate, taking a path through woods and over fields. There’ll be plenty of sheep and some alpacas.
Down to Coastley
After Low Gate, we start on a track heading back down towards the river. This passes a caravan park and then takes us down an old track to the Hamlet of Coastley.
Burnfoot Wood
After leaving Coastley, we cross the A69 and enter Burnfoot Woods. Situated in a small valley, this wood has the feeling of a woodland glade, with shadows and dappled light.
We leave this wood on a path under the old railway line and follow the road back to Warden Brdige and the end.
After the walk, we will be visiting the Boatside Inn or Citrus Cafe.
We hope you can join us.
